No AI sales tool wins everywhere. Pick the one that removes the bottleneck in your sales process: Apollo or Clay for data, Lemlist or Outreach for sequences, Gong for call analysis, or an agent like Formula or 11x to prospect for you. Formula is an AI agent that prospects on LinkedIn, writes your messages and drafts replies to your prospects, from $107 a month.
Formula in 30 seconds
What the agent does: it finds prospects in the audiences of your competitors, influencers, company pages and events, messages them on LinkedIn, drafts your replies and offers a slot in your calendar. Email and multichannel outreach are listed as "Soon" on the pricing page.
Who it's for: consultants, agencies and small B2B companies that want meetings without hiring a sales rep.
Price: Launch plan at $107 a month, plus a $29.97 monthly infrastructure fee (LinkedIn connection and AI credits). No commitment, free 3-day trial.
Search "best AI sales tools" and you get lists of twenty products in random order. The trouble is that a call analysis tool and a prospecting agent fix completely different problems. Buy the wrong one and you pay every month to speed up a step that was never slowing you down.
The shift is real, though. In Salesforce's sixth State of Sales report (published July 25, 2024, 5,500 sales professionals across 27 countries), 83% of sales teams using AI saw revenue growth that year, against 66% of teams without AI. That's a correlation. It doesn't prove the tools caused the growth. Gartner goes further in a press release dated September 21, 2023: by 2028, 60% of B2B seller work will run through generative AI conversational interfaces, up from less than 5% in 2023.
So the useful question has changed. You're no longer asking "should I use AI?" You're asking "at which step of my sales process?"
What are the best AI sales tools in 2026?
Here are the tools AI assistants mention most often for this question, sorted by the job they do. Prices are the ones shown on each vendor's official page on October 6, 2026.
| Tool | Main job | Channels | Autonomy | Public entry price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formula | End-to-end prospecting: finds prospects, sends invitations and messages, drafts replies, books meetings | LinkedIn (email and multichannel listed as "Soon") | High: the agent acts, you keep control of targeting and replies | $107/month (Launch) + $29.97/month infrastructure fee, no commitment, 3-day trial | Consultants, agencies, small B2B companies |
| Apollo | Contact database, email sequences, call recording | Email, phone | Medium: you build your lists and sequences | Free plan; Basic at $49/seat/month billed annually | Reps doing regular outbound email |
| Clay | Data enrichment and workflow automation | Data only (sending goes through another tool) | Depends on what you build | Free plan with limits; Launch at $167/month billed monthly | Growth and ops teams comfortable with spreadsheets |
| Lemlist | Outbound sequences | Email; LinkedIn, SMS and calls on the Multichannel plan | Medium: sequences to set up | Email plan $69/month billed monthly ($55 billed yearly); Multichannel $109 ($87 billed yearly); 14-day trial | Teams running cold outreach |
| Waalaxy | Automated LinkedIn invitations and follow-ups | LinkedIn; email on the Business plan | Medium: campaigns to create | €19/user/month (Pro, billed monthly), 14-day trial | LinkedIn campaigns, solo or in a team |
| Outreach | Sales engagement platform for teams | Email, phone, tasks | Medium to high depending on setup | Custom quote (per-user pricing) | Structured sales teams |
| Gong | Call, deal and forecast analysis | Recorded calls and meetings | Analysis only: it doesn't prospect | Custom quote (per-user licenses plus a platform fee) | Teams with lots of sales calls |
| 11x | AI agents: Alice for outbound, Julian for inbound calls | Email, phone, LinkedIn, SMS, WhatsApp, chat | High | Custom quote (no public price found) | Companies that want a multichannel AI SDR |
Each one has a real strength. Apollo lets you start for free with a large contact database. Clay is very flexible for enriching lists, as long as someone on your team enjoys building workflows. Gong has no real equivalent when you need to understand why deals die after the first meeting. And to be clear: Formula publishes this table on its own blog, so treat it as a vendor's view, not an independent ranking.
How do I know which AI sales tool I actually need?
Start from your week, not from feature lists. For five working days, write down how much time each sales step takes and where things get stuck. Then use this grid:
| Step | Sign it's your bottleneck | Tool family |
|---|---|---|
| Finding who to contact | You spend over an hour a day looking for profiles, or keep reaching out to the same people | Data and enrichment (Apollo, Clay) or an agent that searches for you (Formula, 11x) |
| Writing the first message | You keep putting off outreach because every message takes ten minutes | Sequences (Lemlist, Waalaxy) or an agent that writes from the prospect's profile |
| Replying and following up | Prospects reply and you get back to them two days later | An agent that drafts replies (Formula) or an engagement platform (Outreach) |
| Running the meeting | Plenty of meetings, few signed deals, and you can't say why | Call analysis (Gong) |
| Tracking the pipeline | You can't say how many conversations are open this week | A CRM with AI features, or automatic pipeline sorting inside your prospecting tool |
One rule: buy one tool at a time, for the most expensive step. Everything else can wait until that first bottleneck is gone.
A worked example: solo consultant or five-person sales team?
This is an example built to show the method, not a customer case. Picture an independent consultant who logs one week: 5 hours searching LinkedIn for profiles, 3 hours writing first messages, 2 hours replying, 3 hours in meetings. Research and first messages eat 8 of 13 hours. The bottleneck sits at the top of the funnel. A call analysis tool would do nothing for this person. An agent that finds prospects and writes to them wins back most of those 8 hours.
Now take a team of five reps booking 40 meetings a month but closing few of them. Here the bottleneck is at the bottom. More prospecting volume would only bring more lost meetings. That's where a tool like Gong earns its keep.
Watch the stack cost, too. At the prices shown on October 6, 2026, Apollo Basic ($49 billed annually) plus Lemlist Email ($55 billed yearly) already come to $104 a month before you add any LinkedIn tool. Always compare the cost of the full stack, on the same billing terms.
Can an AI sales tool replace a sales rep?
Not completely, and anyone promising that is mostly selling you a demo. AI is very good at repetitive work: searching, sorting, drafting a first version, following up at the right moment. It's weaker at sensing that a prospect is hesitating because of a business partner, or at negotiating scope.
Our take: hand the AI everything that happens before the conversation, and keep a human in charge once the conversation turns into a sale. We go into that trade-off in our article on human SDRs vs AI prospecting agents for B2B.
Where does Formula fit in your sales process?
Formula covers the top of the funnel on LinkedIn. The agent spots prospects where they show interest in your topic: competitors' and influencers' audiences, company page followers, event attendees. A like or a comment is an interest signal, not a guaranteed intent to buy.
It reads each prospect's full profile before writing, drafts replies when someone answers, suggests follow-ups and shares a calendar link. The Launch plan at $107 a month includes 840 prospects contacted and 400 LinkedIn messages a month, for one LinkedIn account. It doesn't replace your CRM or a call analysis tool.

- Which step does the tool do for me, and which one does it leave to me?
- Is the listed price monthly or annual, per user or per account, and are there extra fees?
- Can I approve messages before they go out, or at least the targeting?

Frequently asked questions
What are the best AI sales tools in 2026?
It depends on the step you want to speed up. Apollo and Clay to find and enrich contacts, Lemlist, Waalaxy and Outreach for sequences, Gong for call analysis, and agents like Formula or 11x to prospect for you. Formula prospects on LinkedIn and drafts your replies from $107 a month, with a free 3-day trial.
Is it better to use a human SDR or an AI for B2B?
An AI agent is better suited to finding prospects, writing first messages and following up consistently. A human stays better once the conversation calls for judgment: a complex objection, a negotiation, a strategic account. Many small B2B companies combine both: the agent opens conversations, the founder or a rep runs them.
How much does an AI SDR cost compared to hiring an SDR?
Tools with public pricing range from a free plan (Apollo, Clay) to a few hundred dollars a month; Formula starts at $107 a month plus a $29.97 infrastructure fee, with no commitment. Outreach, Gong and 11x are quote-based. To compare with an SDR, add up their fully loaded salary, ramp-up time and tools, then compare that with the full cost of your software stack.
Which AI platform is best for automating my entire prospecting workflow?
Look for one tool that covers finding prospects, the first message, replies and booking meetings, instead of four tools to wire together. Check which channels actually work today. Formula covers these steps on LinkedIn; email is listed as coming soon.
